Amy  Ruth Stone

Amy Ruth "Jo" Elmore Stone, 87, died Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at Oceanside Nursing Home. She was born November 6, 1922 to the late Doras E. and Lois H. Elmore. Jo was a former member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church and attended Independent Presbyterian Church with her family. She was a 1972 graduate of Armstrong State College and was a lifelong student. She was a world traveler and a member of the Magnolia Garden Club and the French Club. She was an avid reader and gardener, and also enjoyed flower arranging. Jo had the special gift of hospitality and also indulged her children's love of animals.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Dr. Richardson "Dick" Stone.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Lee S. and John Kendrix, of Canton, GA; Susan S. and Richard Hinely, of Savannah; two sons, Steve Stone, of Jacksonville, FL, and Bill Stone, of Santa Fe, New Mexico. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Brian and Angela Wallace and Amy and James Hinely, and two great-grandchildren, Chandler and Odin.
Visitation will be 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., Sunday, February 28, 2010 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
Funeral Service will be 10:00 a.m., Monday, March 1, 2010 at Independent Presbyterian Church with the Reverend Terry Johnson officiating.
Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
Remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, ALZ.org.
